About My Story

I’m Coco Moreno Madrid. I grew up along the coastline of Chile with a dream: to make a life around nature and the ocean.

My dream started because of my family. During my childhood, the economic situation of my parents was not the best; every month we struggled a bit to keep things going well. However, no matter how hard it was sometimes, we never got stuck on the problems. They taught my sister and me to always look for solutions. They were, and still are, smart. Since I can remember, my mom, who has been in love with the arts her whole life, always found a way to give me something like pencils, a random tool, or paints that let me create what was in my mind, which gave us moments of joy. At the same time, my dad, who loves the beach life, showed me the fun side of the beach and nature, where you can be happy with almost no cost. So, I spent most of my childhood around the beach and making art at home and school.

Over the years, my parents focused on our studies. They always emphasized that the only way for us to have a better life was through education and striving to be the best in what we were doing. They made us participate in all school activities. Over time, I started competing in different sports and arts contests to represent the school. For me, it felt like an obligatory task at the time, but for my family, it was the only way we could have a good school performance.

In my last year of school, a friend lent me a semi-pro camera that I tried in a photography class. I discovered a whole new world and probably the best way to show my passion (the ocean) to my family and friends. Unfortunately, life as a photographer in my country is almost impossible and even harder for someone without the money to get the right equipment. In consequence, when I finished school, I decided to study Industrial Engineering due to the circumstances, but always focused on continuing my ocean career on the side. During my studies, I worked and volunteered to take Scuba and Free Diving courses. During my studies, I was only thinking about the ocean, counting the days to get my degree and go in search of my real dream. So, after finishing my degree, I worked for some time trying to save money, just enough to get some camera equipment and start traveling around the world doing what I truly love, at least until my pockets allowed it.

For the last decade, I have been exploring different oceans and coastlines, guiding people in the water, doing nature photography, creating memories, recording data for the future, and always pushing my dream.

To keep pursuing my dream, I am willing to do different kinds of jobs. As I learned in my childhood, I always look for solutions instead of problems. So, if you have any project or job near the ocean that I can be part of, I will be happy to work there and give my best to help you achieve your dreams too.
